IT6626 (HDMI 2.1 to Dual-Port MIPI CSI/DSI Converter)

1. General Description

The IT6626 is a high performance HDMI-to-MIPI video converter. It integrates an HDMI 2.1 receiver and a dual-mode MIPI CSI/DSI transmitter with MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY. For AR/VR, mobile or other display applications requiring translation the HDMI protocol to the MIPI output, the IT6626 is an optimized low power and high quality solution.

The IT6626’s HDMI RX is compliant with the HDMI 2.1a specification and is backwards-compatible with the HDMI 2.0b and HDMI 1.4b specifications. It supports data rates up to 12Gbps per channel in FRL mode or 6Gbps in TMDS mode. The conversion of high resolution video signals such as 4K2K@120Hz or 8K4K@30Hz could be easily achieved by its high bandwidth. The IT6626 supports the conversion of color space from RGB to YUV444/422/420 and vice versa. After the optional video processing, varied RGB/YUV video formats can be transmitted by the MIPI CSI/DSI transmitter depending on the application. Users can furthermore adopt 1/2/3-trio MIPI C-PHY links or 1/2/4-lane MIPI D-PHY links according to the system requirement.

The IT6626 is capable of separating audio content in various formats from HDMI input stream, including I2S, DSD, SPDIF, HBR, and so on. According to the input content, 8-channel I2S, 8-channel DSD audio, or SPDIF data may be output to peripheral audio processors or DACs.

The IT6626 builds in HDCP 1.4/2.3 hardware engines. Each IT6626 chip comes preprogrammed with a unique HDCP key, in compliance with the HDCP 1.4/2.3 standards so as to provide secure transmission of high-definition content. Users of the IT6626 need not purchase any HDCP keys or ROMs.

The IT6626 provides a complete solution of Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) function. This optional CEC feature of HDMI specification allows the user to control two or more CEC-enabled devices through HDMI network. With the embedded CEC PHY, user can use high-level software API to easily implement all the necessary remote control commands. The CEC bus related protocol is handled by the CEC PHY which eliminates extra loading of the MCU.

With embedded MCU and Flash, customers need no external Flash and MCU, and thus reducing both BOM cost and board footprint.
